Pharr Mill is a very nice park for a good walk or an afternoon on the playground. It is interesting seeing my local ecology as a 'park' -- the juniper-cedars and jack pines, little bits of milky quartz, the seasonal creeks that feed Rocky River. The boardwalk and tiny gravel are great for walking.
The lake at Pharr Mill is very nice, with a pier and benches. We have seen some turtles in it. The use of big, native rocks is very cool!
The long boardwalk through the swampy area is a lot of fun. The long, concrete 'ess' is a unique feature. I think it would be fun to bike down it. The river overlook has a nice view of Rocky River, but none of the benches actually face the river!
The Rocky River Church memorial is a very elegantly crafted area.
In the seasonal pools around the boardwalk, we saw tadpoles in the early spring; after late-spring flooding, there were little fish that lived until the severe summer droughts.
The big trees along the creek bed are gnarly. We are always on the lookout for mullein plants.
